Five Things You Might Not Know About Me

By Nicole Sari

When people pick up one of my books, they usually get to know my characters first. But I thought it might be fun to introduce myself a little better, too.

So, if we’ve never met before, or even if you’ve been following my writing journey for a while, here are five things you might not know about me.

1. I Believe Home Is More Than a Place

One of the themes you’ll find throughout my books is the idea that home isn’t always where you’re born—it’s where you’re loved.

Whether it’s a neighborhood bakery, a small town, or a group of people who become family, those places inspire me every time I sit down to write.

That’s probably why Pepperidge feels so real to me. Even though it’s fictional, it feels like home.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York—a place that, despite being part of one of New York’s largest cities, often feels like a small town. I grew up knowing my neighbors, the families on my block, and the owners of the local shops and businesses. That sense of community stayed with me, and it’s one of the biggest inspirations behind Pepperidge and the close-knit world you’ll find in my Crossroads Series. Like Vanessa, I understand what it means to find comfort in familiar faces, welcoming places, and the people who make a community feel like home.

2. Coffee Is Part of My Writing Routine

Most of my writing sessions begin with an iced coffee by my side. There’s something comforting about settling in with my favorite drink before opening my laptop and disappearing into another chapter. Some of my best story ideas have arrived somewhere between the first sip and the last.

3. I’m a Lifelong Learner

Besides writing, I’m currently working toward my degree in Health Administration.

I’m also the proud mom of a 17-year-old daughter who is about to begin her own college journey. Watching her take this exciting next step while pursuing my own education has made this season of life especially meaningful.

Balancing school, parenthood, writing, and everyday life isn’t always easy, but it’s reminded me that it’s never too late to chase a dream or begin a new chapter.

That belief often finds its way into my stories, too.

4. I Love Stories About Ordinary People

I don’t write about superheroes or glamorous celebrities.

I write about neighbors.

Families.

Friends.

People finding hope after heartbreak.

Second chances.

The quiet moments that often become the most meaningful memories.

Those are the stories that stay with me—and the ones I hope stay with my readers.

5. Writing Is My Way of Bringing People Together

One of my greatest hopes is that when someone finishes one of my books, they close it with a smile…or maybe a few tears. Happy tears, of course. Well…most of the time. Sometimes the sad ones sneak in, too.

Maybe they’ll call a family member.

Bake something special.

Spend a little extra time with someone they love.

Or simply be reminded that new beginnings are always possible.

If my stories inspire even one of those moments, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I set out to do.

Nicole Sari
